15 NOVEMBER 2001 AMSTRAD E-M@ILER SIGNS UP JUNGLE.COM jungle.com, the online electrical retailer, has signed a deal to advertise on Amstrads unique interactive medium, the e-m@iler. The email enabled home phone has a digital screen, providing advertisers with a powerful way of targeting consumers with an effective combination of digital and direct response media. The series of ads will target consumers with special offers on items such as DVD players and web cams in the key pre-Christmas period. They will go live on 12 December. E-m@iler users will be able to respond to ads using Amstrads touch and speak technology. Dubbed in the press as the phone with attitude the e-m@iler, launched by Amstrad in 2000, provides advertisers with a poster in the home, a unique and effective way to target consumers in their home environment. The key to the e-m@ilers success is that advertising messages appear on one of the most used appliances in the home. Andy Singleton, marketing director for Jungle.com, said: Weve been trialling the Amstrad e-m@iler as part of our interactive marketing strategy. It provides a great way to communicate special offers with consumers and encourages a direct call to action. So far responses have been very encouraging. Simon Sugar, Amstrad commercial director, said: Jungle.com chose the e-m@iler because of its proven track record in delivering responses, while also providing a cost effective means to communicate with potential customers. As a medium, the e-m@iler is flexible enough to be used either as a tactical solution i.e. promoting a particular seasonal offer, but can also act as a brand-building tool in the longer-term. Weve worked with a wide range of companies from financial services to broadcasting to provide them with timely and economical ways of reaching consumers. Other well known brands which have advertised on the Amstrad e-m@iler include HSBC, Virgin Mobile, UCI cinemas, BSkyB and Interflora.
