14 APRIL 2000 Amstrad e-m@iler wins first advertiser Amstrad announced today that Britannia Music, Europe's leading music and video mail order company, has agreed to participate in an advertising programme using the Amstrad e-m@iler, launched just two weeks ago. The first shipment of Amstrad e-m@ilers, delivered to selected Dixons stores on 29th March, sold out within 3 days. Bulk shipments are due in the first week of May, with subsequent volume deliveries scheduled on a monthly basis thereafter. The company plans to sell 1 million units into the UK market within two years of launch. The Britannia Music deal will deliver CD, video and DVD offers into UK households via the e-m@iler screen. Britannia has over 2 million customers in its clubs in the UK. Mark Williamson, Britannia Music's Marketing Director, commenting on the announcement, said today: "The effectiveness of the advertising media we use is critical in making best use of our marketing budget. The Amstrad e-m@iler will give us the opportunity of reaching into homes and obtaining responses at a far lower cost than conventional media such as direct mail. This new route to our market is unique and highly cost effective, as well as being fast. The e-m@iler database will additionally allow us to target particular customer profiles and choose the time of day or night when we deliver our offers into the home. The e-m@iler has only just been launched so initially the customer base will be quite small. However, we believe this product will be hugely successful and we want to become a founder participant in what we believe will radically change the face of direct marketing." Sir Alan Sugar, Chairman of Amstrad, said: "The Britannia people were quick off the mark. They 'got the plot' almost immediately we showed them the product and service. We could not ask for any better accreditation. Britannia have spent their whole life in the direct selling business. What they don't know about response advertising isn't worth knowing " For further information please contact Andrew Bloch/Eva Sogbanmu/Gavin Lewis at Frank PR 0207 693 6999 or Gavin@frankpr.it / Andrew@frankpr.it Go to News Headlines |
