Amstrad plc e-m@iler update
Amstrad plc announced today that the installed
base of the first generation model of the e-m@iler has been successfully
moved from the original telecom provider to Thus Group plc (“Thus”)
who operate the service and technology platform for the current model.
This planned move will increase the revenue earned from the first model
as a result of the more favourable revenue sharing arrangements that are
in place with Thus.
At the same time Amstrad in co-operation with Thus have introduced technology
to enable the current installed base of e-m@ilers to receive SMS text
messages from mobile phones which complements the existing ability of
the phones to send SMS text messages. This is the first time a corded
home phone has been able to act as an SMS text base station. This new
functionality adds another revenue earning source to the e-m@iler.
