08 October 2003 Amstrad pioneer home secure credit card terminal Amstrad, recognising that pin authorisation for credit card payment was bound to happen and become the norm have incorporated a credit card slot in the e-m@iler phones. There are already over 250,000 e-m@ilers in homes. The end of this month marks the introduction of credit/debit cards that no longer require a signature when purchasing - something Amstrad have already made provision for. The e-m@iler not only enables users to enjoy email and Internet access, but the phone comes equipped with a credit card slot. Vendors in the future will not accept credit card payment over the phone unless there is a secure way to enter the PIN number. The Amstrad e-m@iler, which is future-enabled, allows the user to enter a PIN number in a secure manner and authorise an online transaction from their home. Click here for more information.
